We are excited to announce that Yomif Kejelcha will be going after the Indoor Mile World Record at the Millrose Games on February 9th

Hicham El Guerrouj set the record, 3:48.45 22 years ago in Belgium.  Yomif hopes to best the record set by the legend.  We will be videotaping the next 5 weeks to give you a behind the scenes view at the training and attempts themselves in a series we are calling “Chasing Legends”.

Plans always change in this sport but if Yomif can break the Mile record at the Millrose Games on February 9th he will go after Daniel Komens 3000m World Record of 7:24 on March 3rd.  If he can’t break the Mile WR at Millrose he will give it one more shot on March 3rd  and save the 3000m attempt for another day.

Coach Salazar commented,  “Yomif is in incredible shape and has been concentrating on his speed work this Winter so it’s a great time to give these records a shot as they don’t interfere with his ultimate goal, World Championship Gold in September”

We will announce the release date of the first episode in the near future.  You can follow the first attempt and the rest of the competition at the Millrose Games live on NBC, on February 9th.
